One night a disaster hits New York City--suddenly people, buildings, sections of neighborhoods are moved to new locations. The power grid snaps and thousands of residents are missing. The next night, it happens again. And it keeps on happening. Esme Green and Arjun Varma, part of the city's Emergency Management team, work on disaster response for this unrecognizable reality. And as they fight to hold the city together, they find they must also answer questions about themselves.
