In the years between 1971 and 1985, few shows promoted reading as creatively and energetically as The Electric Company. A virtual "video" classroom that was as informative as it was entertaining, The Electric Company used sketches, animation, and music to encourage literacy as a series of teachers including Bill Cosby, Morgan Freeman, and even Spider Man gave children all the tools needed in order to strengthen their vocabulary and reading skills.
