The Friends of the Pearce-Sunsites Community Library are unique in Cochise County, in that they raised the funds to build a library for their community. The library opened in the early 1980s, as a branch of the Cochise County Library District. The Friends of the Library own and maintain the library building and grounds, while the Library District provides a Branch Manager and supports the library collection.
The Friends of the Library operate the Friends Bookstore, which is located directly behind the library. Proceeds from book sales and other fundraising activities support library programs, and help defray maintenance costs.
The Friends Bookstore has an excellent selection of fiction and nonfiction, and it is staffed by friendly, book-loving volunteers.
The bookstore is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:30 am to 3 pm, and Saturday 9:30 to 11:30 am.
